Cairo: On 24 April 2025, Italy’s Deputy Prime Minister Antonio Tajani told President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi that Italy will support Egypt’s plan to start rebuilding Gaza.
The meeting took place at the presidential palace as Tajani and El-Sisi talked about how to end the fighting in Gaza, free captives, and bring in humanitarian aid. They both agreed that Palestinians must not be forced from their homes and that a two-state solution is the best path to lasting peace.
Tajani also praised Egypt’s work to secure safe sea routes through the Bab al-Mandab Strait and to host talks on the Iranian nuclear issue. They discussed wider regional challenges in Syria, Libya and Sudan, and ways to boost trade, energy, food security and migration cooperation between Italy and Egypt.
This show of support by Italy underlines its commitment to help Egypt act as a peacemaker in Gaza. It also reflects the strong ties between Rome and Cairo, as both countries work together on rebuilding efforts and regional stability.
